An oversized plush Santa hat with strands of warm light falling from the brim.
A Santa hat, larger than a hat needs to be, with warm white lights and small charms falling from the brim in strands. It hangs from a hook at the top. Lit, it reads as a lamp. Unlit, the plush and the charms still hold the shape, so it can go up in daylight, be admired for what it is, and be switched on when the afternoon gives up.
The classic snowflake hat is red with white snowflake print and holly. The belted hat is taller and plainer, with a black belt and gold buckle, and stars and gift boxes on the strands. The candy cane hat is red and white striped with a small wreath and bow at the crown. All three hang the same way and take the same hook. The crown of each hat holds its shape rather than collapsing, which is what lets it hang as a cone instead of a bag.
Warm white strands run from the brim down through the charms, with small trees, stars and baubles hung between them. The light is amber rather than white, which is what makes it work on a porch at dusk instead of looking like a security light in a hat. It is bright enough to light a doorway and not bright enough to annoy the neighbours. The strands are spaced so the charms stay visible rather than disappearing into the light.
There is a hook built into the top. A porch bracket, a hook over a mantel, a nail in a beam. It is light enough that no special fixing is needed, and it goes up in about a minute, which matters when the weather turns and you want the job done between showers.
Plush fabric and weather resistant lights, so a covered porch or a sunroom is fine and rain is not. Direct weather shortens the life of anything fabric that lights up, this one included. Height runs between eighteen and twenty three inches depending on the style, so it fills a doorway without blocking it. Taken down and boxed in January, it comes back out the following November looking the same.
No bracket to fit and no wiring to run.
Amber strands that suit a porch after dark.
Snowflake, belted or candy cane stripe.

| Type | Hanging lit decoration |
| Size | 18.5 to 23.5 in high, 6 to 7.5 in wide |
| Styles | Classic snowflake, belted, candy cane striped |
| Use | Indoor and covered outdoor |
Above the door, where guests see it before they knock.
Tall enough to fill the gap above a fireplace without crowding it.
Lit and left on through the evening.
Over a table or a bar, where the light does some work.
Brush the plush rather than wiping it, which keeps the pile from matting. Bring it in through the worst of the winter if it has been outside. Check the strands before it goes into storage, so a season is not lost to a connection that could have been fixed in a minute.
Under cover, yes. Porches, patios and sunrooms are fine. Direct rain is not.
There is a hook at the top. Any hook or nail that takes its weight will do.
The classic snowflake hat, probably because white print reads from the far end of a porch.
