A five point star you fill with pearls, then set on top of the tree.
A five point star about eight inches across, printed with one of six scenes and a grid of symbols. Pearl pieces and small faceted accents go onto the grid, and the halos, the robes and the lamb take shape in the raised texture as you work outward from the centre. Under the star there is a coiled base that sits over the top branch of a tree.
A rigid printed panel with a coil underneath that slips over the tree's top spike. You build the star at a table and set it last, which is a good deal easier than holding a dressed tree steady while you place small pieces. The panel does not flex, so nothing shifts under the work once a section is down.
Baby Jesus in the manger, Jesus Our Savior, the Holy Family, Mary and Baby Jesus, the Angel over Bethlehem, and Jesus the Good Shepherd with a lamb. Choose at checkout. Each scene is its own print with its own set of pieces, so the colours and the outlines match the design rather than being shared across the six. The star points are left for the faceted pieces, which is what stops the shape disappearing against a lit tree.
Round pearl pieces carry the larger shapes: robes, faces, the curve of the lamb's back. Small faceted pieces pick out the star points, the halos and the light around the manger. Two sizes of piece, one tool, and a tray to keep them apart. Working one shape at a time is quicker than working one area at a time, mainly because you handle the tool in the same way for longer stretches.
A topper sits where the tree lights are, which is where this one earns its place. The pearl surface is matte and the faceted pieces are not, so the star changes as you walk past it and again when the room goes dark. That contrast is the reason to build it rather than buy a moulded star, and it is the part people notice from the doorway.

| Type | Pearl diamond art tree topper |
| Design | Five point star on a printed base |
| Size | Approx. 8 in / 20 cm across |
| In the box | Printed star base, pearl and faceted pieces, tools, guide |
Small enough to finish at a table in a few evenings.
Fix the coil over the top branch once the tree is dressed.
The base is rigid, so it stores in a box without losing its shape.
For someone who wants a quiet job in Advent rather than another ornament.
Store it flat with the coil downward so the weight does not press on the finished face. Dust with a dry brush rather than a cloth. Keep it clear of a radiator through December, since the base panel dislikes sustained heat and will bow over a season if it is left too close to one.
The coil sits over a standard top branch. If your tree has an unusually thick spike, open the coil out slightly.
Not hard. The symbols are printed clearly and each piece only fits in one place.
